Interview With Piyush Makwana , Managing Director of DHC Exports

                                                   

 

1. Describe about your Business and founders.

 

Dinesh Handicraft is a small handicraft home decor product manufacturing shop in small city of Gujarat, Amreli, started by Dineshbhai Makwana, my father, 25 years ago in Amreli. Now it is managed by Mr. Piyush Makwana, Managing Director of DHC Exports.

In my company right now, we are manufacturing products like wall decors, antique show pieces, antique swings, antique furniture, corporate gift items, and also for pooja temple and chowki. All are made from wood and coated with different metals like aluminium, brass, copper, German silver metals. We have more than 2000 unique samples in our catalogue which offers premium quality handicraft items. All products are masterpiece in themselves.

Currently my company is India’s first ISO 9001: 2015 certified company. Also, we have registered more than 150 designs of products, which is again highest in India.

 

 

2. Why did you decide to start a family business?

Because at my age generally all are thinking about good job, but from starting my mind-set was to do business and create my own brand. After researching in different businesses, I found that my own father’s business has a very big market and big opportunity. So, I decide to join family business.

 

3. How did you developed your brand?

 

At first, I worked on product market (physical market) and then started to selling on e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. I got huge responses from customers and also got good ratings. So, from there, I registered my brand and also I have registered my own developed product samples. Right now, 150 products are patented, which is highest in India in handicraft segment. And currently we are doing promotions on social media and google too to promote our brand.

 

4. how you have started exporting your products?

           

After getting huge positive responses from e-commerce platforms, inquiries from foreign clients, and through b2b sites and social media, I started thinking how I can make easy for foreign buyers to select products according to their use!! Then I realized that I have to make website for them so that everyone can see all my products and details of it and they can decide which is best fit for them. So I launched my international portal www.dineshhandicraft.com. And it was launched by Honourable union minster of India Mr. Purshottam Rupala sir.

This website is right now live in approx. 40 countries and from there, anyone can place direct order and make payment. Also, they can read details in their own languages too.

 

5. What is your plan for next five years?

           

In next five years our plan is to start our brand store in different cities of India so that Indian customers can have personal visit and will be able to feel the products as well as our work closely.

 

6. How a person can reach your store if he/she wants to purchase your products.?
