History of ABACUS

ABACUS is a computing device or method that was invented 5000 years ago. It is the oldest and fastest calculation method. It is very easy to use and it helps kids visualize math and develop mental calculations. Help children learn the basic number system and manipulate numbers. The real benefit of Abacus is the improvement in concentration and brain development through the concept of visualization. Helps eliminate math phobia and increases student confidence. An abacus is a manual calculation aid  that consists of balls or discs that can be moved up and down on a series of sticks or strings in a usually wooden frame. The abacus itself does not calculate; it is simply a device to help a human  calculate by remembering what has been counted.

2. The iBrain digital abacus

The iBrain digital abacus is available with early bird pricing starting at $69 on Kickstarter, and will retail for $149 following the campaign (a price at which one could buy both a regular abacus and an advanced TI-89 graphing calculator, but I digress). The company hopes to ship devices sometime in June, although the usual warnings about Kickstarter campaigns apply. The company claims that together, the digital abacus system and the brain training games will help children improve at mental math, memory, boost self confidence, and be more creative. And while the campaign notes that studies have shown brain-training games to be effective for these sorts of things.

3. Abacus Supermaths

Super Maths Academy is based in Glasgow, Scotland and we have fully trained teachers to guide children to learn mathematics through our Abacus learning program. Starting at 6 years old, this age is one of the best time periods to learn as this is when the part of brain that handles problem-solving and mathematical equations starts to grow rapidly. It is also significant time period to enhance creativity, thought processing and calculations as both sides of the brain work together. With both sides of the brain collaborating, this makes learning much more effective. Our program at Super Maths Academy is taught over a total duration of around 30 months and is divided into 10 levels.
