I am a certified counsellor, mindfulness practitioner, and happiness coach. I have 8 years of experience in education, including as a Teach for India fellow. I have done my M.Sc. in Counselling and Family Therapy, MA (Education), MA (Public Administration), Advanced Diploma in French, and BA (IRPM)-Industrial Relations and Personnel Management.
The Moon Mending Mindsets
It is a platform that promotes mental well-being. We are working relentlessly to spread mental health awareness and support people struggling with mental health issues. Evolution gifted us with a nervous system that can cope with temporary metabolic changes and even benefit from them. Occasional stress can be like exercise — brief withdrawals from your body budget followed by deposits create a stronger, better you.
But if we are stressed over and over and over again without much opportunity to recover, the effects can be far more grave. If you constantly struggle in a simmering sea of stress and your body's budget accrues an ever-deepening deficit, that’s called chronic stress. It does more than just make us miserable in the moment. Over time, anything that contributes to chronic stress can gradually eat away at our brains and cause illness in our bodies.
It’s important to understand that the human brain doesn’t seem to distinguish between different sources of chronic stress. If our body budget is already depleted by the circumstances of life—like physical illness, financial hardship, hormone surges, not sleeping or exercising enough—our brain becomes more vulnerable to stress of all kinds. This includes the biological effects of words designed to threaten, bully, or torment you or people you care about.
When our body budget is continually burdened, momentary stressors pile up, even the kinds you’d normally bounce back from. It’s like children jumping on a bed—the bed might withstand 10 kids bouncing, but the 11th one snaps the bed frame. Simply put, a long period of chronic stress can harm the human brain. Studies show when we’re on the receiving end of sustained verbal aggression, we’re more likely to get sick. Scientists don’t understand all the underlying mechanisms yet, but we know it happens. We are here to help you with those mental breaks.
Formulating the grounds for hope
My brother suffered partial paralysis at the beginning of last year (on January 2nd, 2021). All his reports were normal, with no signs of clotting anywhere. He was finally diagnosed with "dissociation disorder." He has fully recovered now using a combination of psychotherapy, physiotherapy, and medication.
Although I have been working on the mental wellbeing of others as well as my own, this incident turned my life upside down. It became my anchor to do more. Since then, I have been working extensively on mental health. This helped me understand the nature of trauma and what it does to the body.
6 months down the line, I came up with 'The Moon Mending Mindsets'.
Why do you think counselling services for mental well-being are important?
Talking is the best way to find solutions. Talking to yourself or talking to others are the two choices you have. While talking to yourself (reflection) gives you a limited perspective, talking to others helps you navigate your way through confusion when you are stuck in the inner spiral.
Why did you come up with this name for your initiative?
I strongly believe in the moon analogy. Just like the moon, we all go through phases, and therefore, our worth doesn't change based on the phase we are in. We are still whole.

The Self-Care Ritual
The biggest challenge for anyone's mental well-being is having healthy boundaries. Sometimes, you feel drained by the energies around you. Having a self-care ritual in place helps me a lot to live in tranquillity. I am sharing an approach that I followed to get into a self-care routine below-
A 5-Step Approach for Creating (and Getting Into) a Self-Care Routine
- Find what makes you feel centered.
- Brainstorm ways you can incorporate those things into your daily life.
- Set goals for incorporating self-care behaviours every day.
- Evaluate after seven days.
- Adjust and tweak your approach as you go.
For me, dancing, listening to music, candles, and spending time connecting with people who are important to me make me feel centered. I enjoy taking breaks once in a while. I did Vipaasna last October, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. I was in an environment that allowed me to do introspection and connect with my inner self.
