Strengthening the bond
Building and maintaining strong customer relationships is important to the sustainable growth of the business. It is common for entrepreneurs to focus their resources on acquiring new businesses. However, from my experience, I can say that you don't have to rely on acquiring new customers to get new projects. Continuing to work with existing clients can keep your project pipeline full and lead to references to different clients.
We always build a solid relationship with our clients, procure their trust, and reconnecting with us will save them time and money. Once a client realizes that you are trustworthy and can successfully complete the tasks required for a project, they will be more likely to involve you in future projects.
We adopt various approaches while working with our clients such as:
Focusing on Communication
Fast and efficient communication is our priority. When everybody is occupied with focusing on getting work done, communication can fall by the wayside. That’s why it’s important to communicate clearly and consistently throughout the project. From the outset, we make it clear that we will work with our client to develop value statements that align with their business goals and that we will evaluate progress in contrast to these agreed value statements as the project progresses.
In addition to convenient and intensive communication, we also build a strong client relationship by making our clients feel open to being transparent with us. They should feel that their thoughts and concerns will be treated seriously.
Treating the client as an individual
While the relationship with my client is of the expert sort, recognising that I see them as an individual —that is, something beyond a paycheck— can go a long way. Assuming that you realise your client is a parent, you may simply ask how their youngsters are doing. If you have a closer relationship with your client, something more personal, like emailing them an article about their favourite musician, might be appropriate and appreciated.
Sharing Knowledge
Sometimes the clients do not understand my area of expertise, they feel ignorant about the intricacies of the process and therefore disconnected from the development of the project. I take this as my opportunity to share information that will help the client understand what I do, which will build trust and confidence simultaneously. Explaining to my client what we did, why we did it, and how we came to our decision will help them feel knowledgeable and in-the-loop.
Exceeding Expectations
I have developed a reputation as an independent professional who delivers exceptional results. I always ensure that I don’t oversell myself and promise unrealistic results. By setting sensible expectations, I offer myself the chance to fully impress the client with the final project and position myself as somebody they might want to keep on working with.
Understanding Our Client’s Goals
I generally understand my client on both the micro and macro level. On the micro level, I’ll need to understand the objectives and targets for the project at hand. However, on the macro level, I’ll need to see how this project fits into the organization as a whole, as well as any key details about the client’s culture that might help me in my engagement. The ability to understand the client’s objectives will help to build a relationship of trust and mutual respect.
Keep your dreams alive
My favourite book is "Wings of Fire", an autobiography of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, our late ex-president. In the book, he shares his thoughts on various conflicts that the human mind goes through while pursuing one's goal in life.
It is the narrative of his journey from a humble South Indian village to turning into a Bharat Ratna. It is a story of dreams that turn into actions. It is very important for every Indian, and especially for young people, to read this autobiography. Not because he is a former President and an eminent scientist, so every Indian should read it. However, this autobiography really has good knowledge to share with us, knowledge which is very difficult to get elsewhere. It will motivate you to keep your dreams alive and work towards them with a certain jealousy.
"Dream is not that which you see while sleeping; it is something that does not let you sleep." - Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
Is it possible to balance personal and professional responsibilities?
Definitely possible. Throughout my career, I have always prioritized my personal and professional lives. Whenever you hear "work-life balance," you most likely imagine having an incredibly productive work day, and leaving early to enjoy the other half of the day with friends and family. Although this might appear to be great, it is not always possible.
Strive for a realistic schedule; not for the perfect one. Some days I may focus more on work, while other days I may have more time and energy to pursue my hobbies or spend time with loved ones. Balance is accomplished over time, not every day.
It is vital to remain fluid and continually evaluate where I am versus my objectives and priorities. My child may require my assistance at times, and I may be required to travel for work, but allowing myself to be open to divert and assess my needs each day is key to achieving balance.
What do you think will be the next major trend when it comes to online marketing solutions?
Each year, we witness new and unexpected digital trends that lay the foundations for the future of marketing. As per my observation, the following will be the next major trends in online marketing solutions:
Marketing with Artificial Intelligence
AI in marketing is the next major trend in online marketing. The world is buzzing about how the wave of artificial intelligence will replace every aspect of our lives in the future. Most of the content we consume on our social media platforms is fine-tuned by AIs to keep us engaged for longer.
Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality is an interactive experience of a real environment in which objects residing in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information.
Voice Search Optimization
According to some recent research on voice search, 55% of teenagers use voice search consistently. This massive adoption by the entire generation shows how popular voice search will be in the future.
Programmatic Advertising
Programmatic advertising is when artificial intelligence is used to automate so that advertisers can target more specific audiences.
Finding the potential
I wanted to be my own boss, but the motivation came from seeing the success of many techpreneurs in the valley who made it big. Their stories of struggle and inspiration drove me to take the plunge and be an entrepreneur.
For me, this was a win-win—not only did I get to start my own business and work for myself, but my business had the potential to change the lives of others in various fields and improve their businesses.
I always dream big because dreams are the only thing that is free and no one can stop you from dreaming big. Everything starts with a dream.
The extended purpose
My long-term goal is to be recognised as a well-known brand in this sector. I am planning to increase the total income of my company by 10% over the next two years. Also, I will increase overall brand awareness and increase my company's share of the market.
