I am Sachin Agarwal, Founder & CEO at OJS Fitness—an online health and fitness brand in the Indian e-commerce space.


I was born and raised up in the beautiful city of Jaipur. My childhood years involved education, fun with friends, and complexities.


Even though I was never an extraordinary achiever or topper in school, it did not stop me from being an ambitious youngster who had a keen interest in entrepreneurship. From a young age in my teens, my friends and family would fascinate me a lot. Thus, I wanted to try something new, as I belong to a business family, but I wanted to try something new in my life.


After passing high school, I decided to launch my own venture, OJS Fitness, and started selling products online on Amazon and Flipkart. I began selling online with just one product, and within a year, I had become the best seller on Amazon and the gold seller on Flipkart.
With online selling, I completed my graduation.


Before selling online, I joined my family business. During this period, around two years, I learnt about marketing, people management and, business and product development under the sincere guidance and mentorship of my father and my family members.


I was constantly bitten by the entrepreneurship bug and fantasised about starting my own fitness company.


After a lockdown and some research into the fitness industry in India, I finally decided to take the entrepreneurial leap in August 2020, when I opened the OJS Fitness online store with only one yoga mat as a product. To my pleasant surprise, these yoga mats soon became the bestselling mats on Amazon India in their respective category within 6 months.


I am actively involved in different verticals of the business, such as purchasing, operations, imports, marketing, product testing, and much more. My day-to-day responsibilities at OJS Fitness also include (but are not limited to) fine-tuning the company’s marketing activities, developing new products, and interacting with vendors and customers. My vision is to make OJS Fitness the largest D2C fitness company in India within the next 5 years.

Our brand is inspired by the "Make in India" initiative.

The initial enlisting

First hiring experience was a bit challenging as we had many applicants and few were good at something, while few were good at something else, so selecting an all-rounder was a challenge for me.

 

Consistency and quality are paramount

As you scale and grow your business, you're likely to need more staff. Your relationship with them might not be as close as with previous team members, but everyone must realise the importance of your business values. Consistency and quality are paramount.

 

Obtaining steadiness

As an entrepreneur, one of the hardest parts of my job is maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Like most of us, I have hobbies outside the office and a great group of friends and family that I enjoy spending time with. You need to find a way to stay driven, while also making time for yourself, the things you enjoy, and the people close to you.

 

A Glimpse of time ahead

OJS aims to make the pleasure and benefit of sports accessible to everyone across the world, and we do that by providing the best products for both enthusiastic beginners and passionate professionals at extremely affordable prices.


With a team of approximately 30 individuals, OJS aims to grow as a Rs 50 crore annual revenue brand within the next 2 financial years.


In the next three months, we are planning to launch our new fitness range along with supplement range. We want to give our consumers quality products at affordable prices. That's our entire strategy.
