Saurabh Pant, Co-Founder and Academic Director in Sri Gosalites Medical Academy

Hello, my name is Saurabh Pant, and I am the Co-Founder and Academic Director in Sri Gosalites Medical Academy. I am an engineer by degree and a teacher by profession, I rather feel myself as the elder brother to my students. Starting from my own institute in my college in 2010 where I gave coaching to B.Sc. Undergraduates to working in Kota in a very reputed institute as a Lecturer of Chemistry for pre-engineering and premedical exams. I wanted to explore a wider spectrum of student base, so I joined as a Senior Lecturer in another National brand institute in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh in 2016. By God’s grace I was involved in generation of more than 4000 doctors from 2016 to 2021 including AIR-1 JIPMER (2017) as Chemistry lecturer. In 2021, we initiated Sri Gosalites with an objective of core academic growth of the students without laying excess mental stress to the students of Telugu states which we believe is a major change required as per the present generation of students. I am an advocate of Fun & Learn methodology of teaching rather than conventional rot learning.

Sri Gosalites Medical Academy

We are a Residential Junior college focusing upon schooling and preparation for NEET-UG exams from class XI onwards. We have the core principle to be the most student friendly organization in India with the maximum selection percentage in NEET-UG and surely, we have established ourselves as one in the last few months. Our hostels are new & clean, food is fresh & hygienic, classrooms are one of the most advanced with smart boards even for offline classes and the best in the field Academic team.  As I said we started in 2021, May 21 to be precise. We worked in a small town called as Gosala near Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, so we associated with that name and called ourselves Sri Gosalites Medical Academy. Thanks to the trust of our 4000+ selected medicos and their parents, we got 2200+ admissions in 2 days of the commencement of the classes. This is our second batch going on, and we have around 3500 students staying in our hostels and enjoying academics! In my opinion we are the fastest growing organization with the best academic team in this field presently.

Take on the best

We have to work 2 ways for talent acquisition, Students and Staff. For students, we have talent hunt exams by which we identify the talent and nurture that accordingly, at the same time we believe that ‘Hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard’ so we work upon creating talent from our pool of hardworking students by alternate ways of teaching which inculcates fun learning habits amongst students. For staff, I strongly believe that Gen Z is our major talent pool, and they are not looking for survival like our forefathers did, they are looking for a good lifestyle and decent work-life balance. Here in Sri Gosalites we maintain flexibility of working hours as per the need and minimize management intervention between the faculties and students so that our faculties can work freely and deliver their best. I believe, ‘Hire the best and let them do the rest’. No doubt the salary too play an important role and needless to say that we have no upper limits to salaries. I also focus on communication; this minimises misunderstandings and helps retain top talent.

Undertaking the domain

That was quite simple for us. We worked together for more than half a decade in Vijayawada and were overwhelmed by the kind of respect and love received by the students here. We found one of the most hardworking and talented students here, so it was a no-brainer to continue in the same city where we were already working!

Always lend an ear before you speak

It is tricky. In simple ways if I say, I started listening more than speaking, it makes me more empathetic as well as aware of the situation. This makes decision-making easier.

What inspired you to develop your idea ?

Well, as I said, we wanted student’s life to be less stressful without compromising with academics. We found that the academic systems running in Telugu states were hardly transformed in the last 20 years whereas there is a big generation gap here. New generation has different, if not bigger, problems and huge social media induced stress. At the same time, they are 1 click away for all information, so rot learning isn’t going to work more for them. So, during covid times we felt that we needed to create a whole new institute with core principle of student-friendly decision-making to help the budding talent learn with the least stress and changing core principle of old institutes isn’t possible in short span. That’s how Sri Gosalites was born!

Decompressing the education system – Our long term goal

I think I have made my academic goal quite clear. Fun & Learn! We also feel that parents in Northern part of India are in silent search of a safe residential, unigender hostel cum classroom models, and we are providing it right here with North Indian teaching team, so we wish to spread our wings at National level in the next 2 years. 10 years down the lane we wish to expand ourselves from K-12, as analytical mind start developing from even before Kindergarten so the sooner we start the interaction with kids, the less stressful their learning will be and hence we wish to provide the happy bright minds to the development of this country!
