George, Founder & CEO, Altersoft Innovations
My name is
Stanly George, founder and CEO of Altersoft Innovations India Private Limited,
based in Kochi, Kerala. As I consider solutions in the public sphere, I am
considering technology-enhanced solutions to problems we face in our day-to-day
lives. To improve the lives of common people, I have started a series of
businesses and NGOs and found that applying technology is the easiest way to
accomplish that.
Altersoft
Innovations India Pvt Ltd
Altersoft is
a project engineering company that designs innovative products by
re-engineering conventional solutions. IPtoilet®️ as an automated public toilet
designed for self-cleaning and self-flushing in way-side public latrines. We do
innovation in sanitation to reduce water and enhance user experience with the
no-touch operation of restrooms and toilets.
India always had a ‘build toilet’ mindset, not thinking of O&M. This has created a toilet graveyard in India. Without maintenance, toilets are a nuisance to the public and they remain unused. The cost of maintaining a caretaker at each public toilet location and their monitoring and management is not affordable to local governments. This is where Altersoft Innovations India Private Limited and its product IPtoilets comes in. By applying technology, for making it clean and being monitored its management, the focus has shifted from mere installation to cost-effective maintenance, thereby ensuring its sustainability.

Inching
with Innovation
Innovation
is something which led me the way to become an entrepreneur. It has transformed
me in many ways and brought the balance in me.
Reared Up
for a good cause
During my
journeys, I was concerned about the poor conditions of public toilets and
wondered how IoT and electronics could be used to solve the problem. IPtoilet
is the result of an innovation to make toilets self-cleaning, self-monitoring,
and self-managing while using less water.
The diverse
and immature behavior of the public in public restrooms make sanitation
challenging. Toilets in public places are not monitored for their usage, inside
hygiene, water consumption, or power consumption. Hospitals, malls, and
government offices have the same problem. Also, the public, especially women,
often have no access to hygienic public restrooms or finding a public toilet
with ladies-friendly features, or finding a wheelchair ramp. In toilets,
resource usage is not optimized. Water and power are often wasted. Manual
maintenance is expensive. Public toilets are often a nuisance. The abuse of
some people in these commonly used shared restrooms affects hygiene and health
of the public resulting in a spread of diseases.
It is
imperative to implement technological solutions in public toilets to provide
hygienic facilities, to maintain dignity, to reduce resource usage, to monitor
online, and to ensure sustainable resource usage. This project plan to
undertake cleaning and hygiene issues in common toilets along with optimized
usage of water and other resources.
Long term
purpose
We look
forward to spread the IoT-based self-cleaning toilets globally and establish
partnerships with various segments of the stakeholder such as travel websites,
booking apps, smart cities, NGOs, etc.
Altersoft
wants to get a piece of the growing sanitation economy. We will create a
personalised restroom operated and managed with a mobile app for the smart
people to keep hygiene and cleanliness in public places.
Our product
is an automated cleaning and monitoring system that uses technology to keep a toilet
clean while using fewer resources. This is a retrofitting self-cleaning system
for toilets that enables cleaning and flushing sensor-based and unmanned. It
provides online monitoring of resource usage, cleaning status, and occupancy
level. The product will be developed from the IPtoilet, an existing
prefabricated self-cleaning intelligent public toilet system that has been
installed for more than 6 years at various states in India and has seen more
than 2 million usages.
Currently,
the product is sold as an OEM business model to manufacturers of portable smart
toilets. Our IoT-based control boards can connect to mobile applications and
remote monitoring software to monitor the health of toilets. Local plumbers can
use this IoT smart toilet kit to retrofit any toilet and connect it to a mobile
app for calibration.
