Parvathy Mohan, Founder, MaanZaa

I'm Parvathy Mohan, a very passionate entrepreneur from Alappuzha, Kerala. I run an institution, MaanZaa Language Club for IELTS and OET. I am a post-graduate in electronics who began my career as an electronics lecturer in various engineering and polytechnic colleges in Southern India for over 6 years. For some very personal reasons, I had to make a strange deviation in my profile from being an Electronics Lecturer to being an English Language Trainer. During the course of my profession, I have also provided skill training to numerous college students in Kerala as a part of an employment mission by the Kerala government. Now, I am settled in my hometown, giving more colourful shades to my career through my own institution.

MaanZaa

Like many others, I too experienced many hardships professionally in the initial stages of the pandemic wave. After a series of awful episodes from my previous employers, my plans to be self-employed intensified. Thus, MaanZaa's online platform for IELTS and Spoken English was initiated in the middle of July 2019 within the limitations of my home. The business grew faster than I expected within a few months, which forced me to dedicate more time, energy, and space to the same. Hence, even during the lockdown period, I was compelled to set up an office and classrooms outside my residence in September later in the same year. As it nears its successful third year, MaanZaa has grabbed attention with the hardearned results and accomplishments of our candidates in their language assessment tests. We provide training for IELTS, Spoken English, OET, and German language skills both offline and online. Through the one-on-one classes (individual attention), we are much more focused on providing quality services at flexible timings.

All about IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to help people work, study, or migrate to a country where English is the native language. This includes countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA. It is globally recognised by more than 11,000 employers, universities, schools, and immigration bodies around the world. Surprisingly, most of the Middle East countries, in spite of being English speaking countries, have also accepted IELTS to assess a pupil's proficiency in English. The candidate's ability to listen, read, write, and speak English in English will be assessed during the test. IELTS is graded on a scale of 1-9. IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English.

Quality over Quantity

It's nothing but my love for this language and my aspirations to teach that enables me to stand out among the crowd. Each and every candidate’s strength and weakness are thoroughly learned and guided by the staff at the institution. It's never the monthly admissions that are counted, but it's definitely the number of results and their quality that are taken into account. The daily corrections that are given face-to-face and the weekly mock tests help us track the progress of each student.

Myths about IELTS

Of the numerous myths associated with the IELTS exam, I wish to point out two of the most popular ones. Most importantly, people believe that IELTS preparation courses are not required. It isn't mandatory, but it certainly helps. A coach plays a vital role in the preparation for IELTS by giving constant feedback to the candidate and making it easier for him to realise the loopholes and focus on the weak areas. People also believe that scores can't be achieved in the first sitting. That's also a blind thought, and we do have our candidates successful in their first attempt itself. Secondly, candidates are found to be so nervous during the speaking, they believe that if they don't know the answers, they might get penalized. Well, the knowledge of particular topics isn’t being tested here. The examiner will be paying attention to how you say things and the flow of the conversation, not what you say. While knowing the topic can definitely help, you can’t possibly prepare for every possible topic. If you do not know the answer, you can always draw from personal experience or give your own opinion on the subject to engage and move the conversation ahead.

Ascending effortlessly

Success is relative and is termed differently among my students. All candidates have successfully secured their desired scores in their language tests. So I can confidently say that we have a 100% passing rate. Apart from the systematic and customised teaching methodology we follow, it is worth saying that the ambience we have in our language club is an integral reason for the achievement. There is no hierarchy between tutors and students, which clearly eliminates the void between them. Because we are approachable in and out of the campus, students find it easy to clarify their doubts.

Success meter

Success is measured by the smallest amount of knowledge students have acquired and the smallest rate of progress they have visualised in their ability to use the language. The confidence on their faces will only add to the joy. Our success is measured by the feeling that we will be happily remembered by our students.
