Having worked in cross-functional industries for 25 years, like mechanical and software, I have understood that most customer problems can be solved with the simple usage of efficient technology. In my previous role, I received a national award for designing and developing a new machine for manufacturing high voltage composite insulators and hence developed a successful business out of it with corporate companies. I believe in creating, scaling, and optimising business models that work, by focusing on key results and adapting to new insights.

For a cause

In 2010, there were around 10,000 flour mills in Pune, of which only a couple thousand remain now. Because of rising electricity prices and a dwindling customer base, this valuable business may become extinct in the near future. In today’s digital evolution, all e-commerce businesses have gone online except for our most basic need – Flour Grinding. We thought of bringing this unorganized sector under one umbrella where mill owners will get access to our well-equipped platform and we will help them grow their business. Simultaneously, we will be making India healthy again by delivering freshly ground flour to their doorstep.

Flourpicker is a D2C platform that provides home delivery of freshly ground whole grain/multigrain flours, cold pressed oils, homemade masala (spices), and other products. Our aim is to provide hygienic and preservative-free products for the healthy lifestyle of consumers. Our users no longer have to go to the grocery store to purchase grains, clean them at home, and then visit a couple of flour mills to get them ground. Flourpicker users can order freshly ground flour delivered to their doorstep with just a few clicks on the web portal or Android app.

What process do you follow from picking grains to home delivery?

The entire process is divided into three main parts.

1. Grain Management- We start by procuring high-quality grains from a trader/wholesaler. Once the stock arrives at the warehouse, it goes through manual cleaning to remove any kinds of stones or unwanted particles.

All details of inventory are maintained in our system to keep visibility of the stock. Grinding partners are advised to keep the minimum required inventory to provide uninterrupted service.

2. Flour Management-Once the customer places an order, a notification is sent to the related grinding partner to start with the grinding process of grains as per the customer’s requirement. Our delivery boy delivers the package to the customer and marks the order as delivered.

3. Administration- All processes and progress are tracked from the headquarters via our admin dashboard. The team raises necessary alerts to our grinding partners and delivery boys in case of delay.

Flourpicker is currently serving in Pune with limited resources and is planning growth strategies by keeping the following vision -

-To make the Fourpicker platform available for all urban users across the country.

-To be the largest indigenous e-commerce platform for flour and other products in India.
