in the Army Medical Corps, I had the opportunity to serve in various
administrative roles, honing my leadership skills and strengthening my ability
to make crucial decisions under pressure.
The medical field is dynamic and
being in the Army allowed me to adapt swiftly to ever-changing situations,
ensuring the best possible care for our servicemen and women. After taking premature
retirement from the army, I embraced a new chapter in my life by assuming the
role of Medical Superintendent at Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital Noida, a
prestigious super specialty hospital. In this capacity, I have been committed
to upholding the highest standards of patient care, fostering a compassionate
and empathetic environment for both patients and medical staff.
Over the years, I have come to
appreciate the power of collaboration, teamwork, and innovation in the medical
domain. My passion for continuous learning has driven me to stay abreast of the
latest advancements in medical technology and practices, aiming to provide
cutting-edge treatments and procedures to our patients. As a Medical

Journey of an Army Medical Corps Officer
to Medical Superintendent
As a retired Army Medical Corps officer my career spanned over 24 years, and during this time, I had the honor of serving in various capacities that allowed me to grow both as a medical professional and as an administrator.
Military Medical Officer: My journey began as a Military Medical Officer in Nov 1997, where I provided medical care and support to soldiers and their families. This role required me to work in diverse environments, from field hospitals in challenging terrains to base hospitals with advanced medical facilities.
Combat Medical Operations: I was also part of several combat medical operations, where my team and I provided immediate medical attention to injured personnel in the Combat Zone. This experience taught me the importance of quick decision-making and maintaining composure under intense pressure.
Specialization and Training: As I progressed in my career, I pursued specialized training in Hospital Administration. The Army provided ample opportunities for professional development, and I was selected to be Directing Staff (Instructor) in the prestigious Officers Training College Lucknow where I had the opportunity to train numerous Medical, Dental & Nursing Officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services in various aspects of Hospital & Unit Administration.
Medical Administration: As an officer, I gradually transitioned into administrative roles within the Army Medical Corps. I served as the Commanding Officer of one of the finest Army Medical Corps hospital units, overseeing medical services, managing resources, and ensuring the well-being of both patients and staff.
Leadership Roles: Throughout my tenure, I had the privilege of holding leadership positions, where I was responsible for guiding and mentoring a team of medical professionals. Leadership in the military requires a strong sense of responsibility, as the well-being and lives of individuals are entrusted to you.
Healthcare Planning and
Management: My administrative
experience extended beyond individual units to encompass healthcare planning
and management at higher levels. This involved strategizing and coordinating
medical resources, developing protocols, and implementing policies to optimize
patient care across multiple medical facilities.
Post-Retirement as Medical
Superintendent: Following my
retirement from the Army, I took on the role of Medical Superintendent at
Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital Noida, a prestigious super specialty
hospital in Delhi NCR. In this capacity, I have been responsible for overseeing
the hospital's day-to-day operations, ensuring quality care delivery, managing
budgets, and fostering a positive work environment.

Could you tell us about a memorable
experience when you were working in Armed forces?
My most memorable experience in
Armed Forces has been as Commanding Officer of Military Hospital Agartala, one
of the finest Military Hospitals of Army. I consider myself fortunate of having
been entrusted with such a responsibility during pandemic. The situation though
being poignant was challenging due to VUCA environment & disrupted Supply
chain of medical essentials. The pandemic had created challenges that healthcare providers had never
experienced in their careers. But the pandemic, while taking a toll on
providers and patients alike, has also enabled the discovery of deep reserves
of resilience and innovation of my team. Hats off to the resilience of my team who showed exemplary esprit de corps & bonhomie to tide over the
challenges and bring the hospital to patient centric & war worthy. They
rose to the occasion and finished all assigned tasks despite being outnumbered
vis-a-vis the patient load.
Post pandemic improvements in health care

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound and lasting impact on the
healthcare industry. Some of the significant changes and trends that emerged in
healthcare in response to the pandemic are as follows:

stress buildup.

well-being.

essential for preventing burnout and maintaining well-being.
