Ajit Pal Singh, Ph.D., M.B.A., M.Sc., is working as an assistant professor and
class coordinator at the Sharda School of Allied Health and Sciences (SSAHS),
Sharda University, Knowledge Park III, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.
Formally, I had served as Technical Head of the Department of Transfusion
Medicine at Fortis Escorts Hospital, Faridabad. I was also the Technical Head
of the Department of Transfusion Medicine at Shri Ram Murti Institute of
Medical Sciences, Bareilly, U.P.
I am a
passionate Teacher and a hard-core researcher, I have published 49 research
papers, 11 patents, 4 designs, and 9 copyrights. I have published a book that
is currently available on Amazon, “THE
PATH TO SAFER BLOOD TRANSFUSION”. Recently I had successfully completed a Seed
fund project featuring the Prototype
development of microsurgical instruments that will facilitate various
surgeons during several surgeries.
Work experience
I have 15 years of broad experience that
includes both technical and academic exposure. At Fortis Escorts Hospital in
Faridabad, I was the Technical Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine.
I also worked as the Technical Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine
at the Shri Ram Murti Institute of Medical Sciences in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
I am currently working as an Assistant professor in the Department of Medical
Lab Technology at the School of Allied Health and Sciences, Sharda University, Greater
Noida.
PH.D. journey
Beginning doctoral studies is a big step that
improves a variety of elements, including self-esteem, societal usefulness, and
contribution to scientific disciplines, especially if research is a passion.
Completing a Ph.D. programme, on the other hand, is a whole different story!
Many people believe that getting a Ph.D. is a difficult task. My four-year trek
seemed interminable. After experiencing it firsthand, I recognised that you had
to make compromises, subjecting your nerves to constant strain and difficult-to-overcome
stimuli. Because of my family's love, effort, and care, I completed my Ph.D. in
the least amount of time feasible, and I readily say that it was a
one-of-a-kind and fantastic experience in substance. Now that I've completed my
Ph.D., I can look back on everything I've been through. I was awarded the title
of Doctor of Medical Lab Technology following a four-year journey filled with
numerous deeds and learnings. I absolutely agree with Thomas Edison's
evaluation of success: "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99%
perspiration." "The most certain way to succeed is to try one more
time. "In fact, the path to
this Ph.D. has not been as smooth as one might think. There have been
unanticipated twists and turns as well as barriers. This path has left me sweating
and, at times, driven me to the brink of despondency. I had a strong interest
in medical lab technology, and I recognised that when you are deeply engaged in
research, it becomes exciting to know that you are contributing to the greater
good. A realistic topic, constant skills, helpful and demanding supervisors,
and, most significantly, a dynamic and flexible support structure are all
required to complete a Ph.D. dissertation. I realized
that a Ph.D. is a tremendous undertaking in which you can try to push the
boundaries of knowledge and commitment over a period of years. The exigencies
of daily existence are always present.
For adult (married) students such as me, family obligations must
be balanced with the dissertation. It is crucial to have supervisors who can
comprehend your condition and circumstances at any time and advise you in the
right direction. I had incredibly supportive supervisors, particularly Dr.
Vishal Kumar Chhimpa, an associate professor, who assisted me through the many
constraints. I am grateful to my promoters for their assistance and pleasant
working atmosphere, which greatly aided my training and the effective
completion of this project. My whole admiration will always be reserved for the
scientific and human principles associated with their personalities. In spite
of supportive supervisors, the journey toward a Ph.D. is always a lonely
process. I would be lying if I said otherwise. In the face of intense pressure
from all sides, causing indelible stress, there have always been times when I
seriously doubted my abilities and thought of dropping out.
The network that supports doctoral studies is
an extremely crucial factor in their success. This network is a true anchor
tool in terms of support and inspiration. The University of Sun Rise, Alwar,
Rajasthan, provided me with excellent assistance, training, and research labs,
as well as a small working space, through a collaborative framework based on
the training and mobility of Ph.D. students. Completing a Ph.D. is about more
than just being a keyboard warrior or a passionate thinker; it's about exposing
yourself to a larger research environment that allows you to develop beyond
your thesis. It also provides excellent leverage to keep you moving forward and
not stalling. Participating in several FDPs, seminars, workshops, and
conferences of high scientific value as part of a research plan enabled me to recognize
and identify myself as a scientist, academic, and key player in development.
Importance
of student-teacher relationship
I am certain that the student-teacher
interaction is highly emotional and trustful. After parents, teachers are the
people to whom young students look for help. Teachers not only shape students'
destinies but also train them to deal with global issues. I teach students of
all origins, ethnicities, and nationalities; it can be difficult at times, but
being a dedicated teacher motivates me to do something more significant for the
students' benefit. I am always available to the students at any time; my warm
and supportive personality is important, and if they have a problem, they feel
comfortable sharing it with me, and I always aim to do everything I can for
them. I provide them with advice whenever necessary. I connect with their
parents on a frequent basis through Zoom meetings and try to alleviate their
fears, which pleases them, especially the international students.
Language
barrier major difficulty for International educationalists
Being an allied health Teacher is never an easy
profession. My class is made up of people from various countries who speak a
range of languages. Because international students prefer English and a few
Indian students prefer Hindi, I must explain the lesson in both languages to
support my instruction. Furthermore, I designated one international student and
one Indian student as class representatives (CR) to explain things to their
respective cohorts, which helped to overcome language barriers. The top students
in the class are appreciated by all of the teachers, but I have a different
view perspective, I prefer the mediocre students because I believe they deserve
more attention and respect.

During my academic career, I have made a couple
