Dr. Amit Kumar Marwah, Professor, Head of the Department of Mechanical
Engineering, Acropolis Institute of Technology and Research, Indore
Dr. Amit Kumar Marwah is presently working as a Professor and Head of
the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Acropolis Institute of Technology
and Research, Indore (MP), India. He has contributed to various international
journals and conferences of academic prominence. His current research area is
supply chain competitiveness, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
Educational Background
Dr. Amit Kumar Marwah is a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Shri
Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Research (SGSITS), Indore (MP),
with a specialization in Supply Chain Management. He is a Gold Medalist in
Master of Engineering (ME) with graduation (BE) in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Journey and Publications
He has 22 years of experience in academics and has handled the positions
of HOD and Dean (Academics) in reputed colleges.
He has published more than 24 research papers in SCI-listed journals and
conferences of national and international repute. He is also on the editorial
board of reputed international journals and, as a reviewer, has reviewed more
than 15 papers. He has supervised and examined PhD and Postgraduate theses and
has been a project guide for more than 18 projects at the undergraduate level.
Start-up Services
He is the co-founder of a start-up working in the domain of water
conservation. Mentoring, ideation, product development, and technical
assistance are being provided to the start-ups. He is also mentoring an NGO, and
is a Global Jury Member in the Wadhwani Foundation- National Entrepreneurship
Network (WF-NEN).
Areas of Expertise
His domain interests lie in supply chain management and competitiveness,
lean manufacturing concepts, innovation, ideation, and mentoring start-ups. He
is a subject matter expert in automobile engineering, operation research, the
theory of machines, and thermodynamics.
Achievements
He was awarded a gold medal for his master's degree. He was selected as
a young scientist by DST and holds four patents.
Conferences and Activities
- He has coordinated several ATAL FDPs and has organized FDPs on Entrepreneurship in association with CRISP, EDII and MPCON.
- He holds the responsibility of Industry Institute Partnership at the current institute and is looking after SKF- Centre of Excellence and VLCI Training (in collaboration with Anand Group, India).
- He has initiated several MoUs with industries and training institutes. The CNC Turning Center under his department is completing job orders from nearby industries.
- He is also an active member of the Industry Academia Consortium for Smart Manufacturing (IndAC-SM) which is a consortium of IIT Bombay, IIT Indore, the Royal Academy of Engineering, London, and the University of Cambridge, UK.
- He is also a mentor for inductee teachers under the National Initiative for Technical Teachers Training by AICTE.
- He had taken sessions as an expert and keynote speaker on topics like design thinking, ideation to prototype, and entrepreneurship.
Roles and Responsibilities
He is a part of the core committee for drafting the Intellectual
Property (IP) Policy and the National Innovation and Start-up Policy (NISP) at
the current institute. He is also looking after the responsibility of the
Vice-President – Institution’s Innovation Cell (IIC) of the institute, which is
an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. He is the
coordinator of the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements
(ARIIA) which is now NIRF-Innovation. He is also an innovation ambassador at
the present institute.
