Advice on dental hygiene

 

Oral hygiene is a very importanthealth criterion to be considered by every individual. Ultrasonic scaling and polishing every year help in the removal of plaque and calculus and help in the healthy maintenance of gingiva and periodontium.poor oral hygiene has been linked to cardiovascular diseases. The use of a regular toothbrush and fluoridated toothpaste is recommended. Use of a separate tongue cleaner is also encouraged. To prevent caries, regular mouth gargling after every meal is strongly recommended. Avoid junk foods.

 

 

Contributions as an educator

 

I have contributed to professional dental education by way of teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students for the past 19 years. I have been an official mentor for several undergraduate students in my institution. I contributed as a research guide for the graduate thesis of several postgraduate students from my institution. I introduced dental cortico basal implants in my department where patients with no teeth are restored with fixed and permanent dentition within 72 to 48 hours. This is in sharp contrast to the usage of regular dental implants which takes around 4-6 months for complete and permanent restoration of missing teeth.
