Professional journey

My passion for Communication and its power to shape society led me to embark on a career in Mass Communication. After completing my undergraduation in journalism, I was captivated by the dynamic nature of the field of mass communication and its ability to influence public opinion. This fascination motivated me to pursue a Master's degree in Mass Communication, where I delved deeper into the theoretical-practical aspects of the discipline, and gradually, my interest in applied research led me to pursue a Ph.D. in Mass Communication and Journalism.

Over the years, I had the privilege of teaching and conducting research at renowned educational institutions in India and abroad. This exposure to diverse cultural and academic environments has broadened my horizons and enriched my understanding of Mass Communication and Journalism. It has allowed me to incorporate global perspectives into my teaching methodologies and research endeavors.

During my studies, I realized the importance of imparting knowledge and nurturing young minds in the realm of mass communication. This realization, coupled with my own curiosity to explore the field further, inspired me to pursue a career in academia. I began my journey as a Professor, teaching aspiring journalists and communicators the intricacies of the profession.

Research Achievements

In my capacity as Professor of Mass Communication, my areas of research and expertise encompass a wide range of subjects within this dynamic field. Primarily, I have dedicated my scholarly pursuits to investigating the impact of media on society and the intricate relationship between mass communication and public opinion. Through extensive research, I strive to unravel the complexities of media effects, exploring how various forms of media shape individuals’ attitudes, beliefs, and behaviours.

Additionally, I have delved into the realm of media ethics and the role of journalism in a democratic society. My research aims to shed light on the ethical challenges faced by journalists and media organisations in an era of rapid technological advancements and evolving media landscapes.

By examining the ethical dilemmas arising from issues such as fake news, privacy invasion, and sensationalism, I seek to contribute to the development of responsible and accountable media practices.

Strive, a student-led media organisation

As an educator in Journalism and Mass Communication, my greatest achievements have had a profound influence on the field, shaping the next generation of journalists and communicators. One notable accomplishment was the establishment of a student-led media organisation called “Strive”, which aimed to amplify underrepresented voices in society by empowering students to produce content that sheds light on social injustices and marginalised communities. Through this, we were able to challenge the status quo and promote inclusivity in media representation. This achievement not only inspired other educational institutions to adopt similar initiatives but also garnered recognition from industry professionals who acknowledged the impact of our students' work. By championing diversity and social responsibility in journalism, I have strived to leave a lasting legacy that encourages future journalists to be agents of positive change.

Exploring the world and publications for personal growth

As a professor, my professional commitments are of the utmost importance to me. I firmly believe that maintaining a healthy work-life balance is essential for personal growth and overall well-being. Beyond the confines of my academic pursuits, I have a profound interest in exploring the world through travel. Immersing myself in different cultures and experiencing different landscapes not only broadens my perspective but also enriches my understanding of the subjects I teach. Furthermore, I am also an ardent lover of reading books related to fiction and art. This helps stimulate my own creativity. These personal interests outside of my work as a Professor serve as a source of inspiration and rejuvenation, enabling me to bring a fresh and dynamic approach to my teaching methodologies.
