Sowmya, Founder & CEO, Clarity Communication

Hi, I'm Sowmya!

I am the founder and CEO of Clarity Communication, where our USP is transparency with the clients along with being proactive. Our strength lies in our hard-working team who deliver results with tailored strategies as per the clients’ needs.
With 24 years of work behind me, my goal now is to elevate brands globally and mentor the next wave of PR professionals.

Could you tell us about Clarity Communication and its services?

Clarity Communication offers complete PR: brand building, storytelling, media relations, influencer reach, digital and traditional PR, social media management, marketing consultation and tailored training for freshers who want to enter the PR world.

Could you tell us about your professional journey?

My career started by chance, with no background in mass communication.
But I was a natural fit, and within a decade, I rose through the ranks to become the General Manager of PR at Concept PR.

In 2010, after learning everything I needed to enter the entrepreneurship world, I branched out as an independent consultant and eventually started my own PR company – Clarity Communication.
Since 2016, I’ve also been mentoring students to be expert PR pros.

What inspired you to start Clarity Communication, and what are your roles and responsibilities as the founder and CEO?

As I worked with different PR agencies, I noticed a big gap between what the agencies said they could do and what they actually did.
That spurred me to start Clarity Communication in 2016—to fill this gap. To offer genuine, transparent, and effective PR.
Today, our success is validated by our team, numerous awards and the trust of our countless clients.

What do you consider to be your most significant achievements in your career?

The 30% y-o-y growth we’ve achieved is mainly driven by word of mouth.
I also take pride in the content we deliver. Hardly any are ever rejected by the clients.
It’s a testament to the quality of the work.

What motivated you to become a certified international career coach, and how has this certification influenced your work in PR?

I wanted to train students entering the PR field feeling lost—I've been there too.
This certification helps me identify each student's strengths. I am also able to place them in my company accordingly.
It also helped me craft an on-boarding curriculum tailored to market demands.
Anyone who joins me for a job now undergoes a 3-month training program with this curriculum.
This has improved the quality of hire, client satisfaction, and countless hours of my time!

As a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Entrepreneurship Program at IIM Bangalore, what advice would you offer to young minds aspiring to start their entrepreneurial journey?

·       Start by gaining career experience.
·       Understanding corporate dynamics is invaluable for entrepreneurship.
·       Prepare through training for the rollercoaster journey of entrepreneurship - it demands  endless motivation and passion!
