I am Dr. S. Rajkumar, an accomplished academic and researcher with over 25 years of teaching experience and 15+ years in research and administration. Currently serving as Dean, School of Management at Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru, I have a strong background in management studies and hold multiple patents and publications. I am also an active member of various academic boards and committees, contributing significantly to the implementation of educational policies and institutional accreditation processes.

 

 

Could you tell us about your educational background and areas of expertise?

 

I hold a Ph.D. in Commerce and Management from Bangalore University, an M.Phil. in Management from Periyar University, and an MBA in Management from Bharathidasan University and Christ College. Additionally, I have participated in the Postgraduate Certificate in General Management from IIM Kashipur and specialized qualifications in International Business, Marketing, and Human Resources Management.

I started my career as an HR executive at one of the leading MNCs in Bangalore before transitioning to academia, where I have over 25 years of experience. Currently, I serve as Dean, School of Management at Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru. I've guided numerous M.Phil. students, published extensively, and held multiple patents. I've also played key roles in academic committees, including NIRF and NEP-2020, contributing significantly to institutional development and accreditation processes.

 

 

Could you share your roles and responsibilities as the Dean of Management Studies at Mount Carmel College?

 

As Dean of Management Studies at Mount Carmel College, I lead curriculum development by ensuring that it meets industry standards and mentor faculty in their professional growth. I manage student development, addressing academic and extracurricular needs. My role includes managing departmental resources and coordinating with other departments. I also lead accreditation efforts, ensuring compliance with academic standards and contributing to institutional goals.

Throughout my career, I have been honored with several notable achievements and awards:


  • Patent Awards: I have been awarded multiple patents, including innovations in real estate advertising platforms and customer retention systems, recognized by both the Indian and Australian governments.
  • Book Publications: I have authored key books on general management and human resource management, which have been well-received in academic circles.
  • Research Publications: My research has been published in prestigious, Scopus-indexed journals, covering topics such as consumer perceptions in the fashion industry and job satisfaction among college faculties.
  • Professional Roles: I have served in significant roles, such as Nodal Officer for NIRF and AISHE, and as a member of the NEP-2020 Implementation Committee, contributing to the advancement of educational policy and institutional development.

I hold multiple patents, including one for a device that provides efficient transaction tracking, awarded by the Indian Patent Office, and one for a customer retention system for retail enterprises, granted by the Australian Government. My work also includes patents on the impact of real estate promotion in online advertising and a study on employee attrition in the IT sector. These achievements highlight my contributions to both academic research and practical innovations across various industries.
