Could you share your professional journey, highlighting the significant milestones in your career?

My professional journey began with a strong technical background, having completed a Diploma in Computer Science followed by a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) from IGNOU and an MBA in Project Management from Sikkim Manipal Institute. Over the next decade, I gained invaluable experience working in various roles, including project execution and team management, at multinational companies across multiple industries. These experiences exposed me to the transformative potential of data in driving business decisions and operational efficiency.

A significant milestone in my career was transitioning from industry roles into education and corporate training. Over the last 12+ years, I have trained over 100,000 students and professionals worldwide, helping them build expertise in data analytics, reporting, and business intelligence. Additionally, being featured in international publications like The Knowledge Review, Digi News Nation, and Indian Press Daily has provided me with platforms to share my vision for data empowerment and education.

What inspired you to embark on a career in data analytics and business intelligence?

My passion for data analytics and business intelligence stems from the early realization that data is one of the most powerful resources in today’s digital age. Throughout my career, I have witnessed firsthand how organizations that effectively harness the power of data are able to make informed decisions, improve processes, and drive growth. I became particularly interested in how data, when visualized and analyzed correctly, can unlock insights that are not immediately obvious but can have a profound impact on business outcomes.

As I progressed in my career, I realized that there was a significant gap between the availability of data and the ability to use it effectively. Many professionals lacked the technical skills required to turn data into actionable insights, and this inspired me to focus on education. I wanted to create a platform where individuals could not only learn the tools and techniques needed for data analytics but also understand how to apply those skills to real-world problems. This passion for empowering others with data is what led to the founding of iTAS and continues to drive my work today.

Additionally, the rapid advancements in technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and automation further fueled my interest in the field. I see data analytics as the foundation of the future, and I am excited about the endless possibilities it holds for both individuals and organizations.

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their career in data analytics and business intelligence?

For those just beginning their career in data analytics and business intelligence, my first piece of advice is to build a strong foundation. Start by mastering the essential tools like Excel, SQL, and Python, and develop a deep understanding of data structures, visualization techniques, and reporting methods. These are the building blocks that will support your growth in more advanced areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics.

Equally important is the ability to think critically and translate data into actionable insights. Always remember that data analytics is about more than just technical skills—it’s about problem-solving and storytelling. You need to be able to interpret data in a way that resonates with stakeholders and drives decision-making.

My second piece of advice is to stay curious and embrace a mindset of lifelong learning. The data analytics field is constantly evolving, with new tools and techniques emerging every year. Commit yourself to continuous learning, whether through certifications, online courses, or industry events. Keep up with the latest trends and be open to exploring new areas, such as automation and AI.

Finally, seek out mentorship and practical experience. Engage in internships, real-world projects, and networking within the data analytics community. Hands-on experience is invaluable, as it will help you apply what you’ve learned and gain a deeper understanding of industry challenges. Surround yourself with professionals who inspire and challenge you, as this will accelerate your learning and open up new opportunities.
