Dinkar Rao, Founder, Groval Group
"Success is all about building catalysts in an
organisation, individuals who possess tremendous energy and willingness to
create value for stakeholders and themselves," says Dinkar Rao, Founder of
the Groval Group.
Recently, he sat down and reflected on his
transformative journey of over two decades in people enablement. With a career
spanning leadership role in global firms and entrepreneurial ventures, Rao’s
work has touched over 15,000 professionals across 400 companies worldwide.
Dinkar Rao stepped into an entrepreneurial role in
2014-15 when he decided to translate his extensive consulting and leadership
experience into actionable frameworks for organisations. With a foundation in
industrial consumable selling and a consulting career that included stints at
Swedish, Dutch, and Danish MNC consulting companies, Dinkar Rao developed a deep understanding of balancing
business objectives with personal growth. This ethos forms the backbone of the
Groval Group’s three enterprises: Groval Eulers, Groval Selectia, and Kabir
Learning Foundation.
Venture and Services
Groval Euler’s focuses on sales enablement and
performance coaching. Dinkar Rao describes the firm’s approach as
"pragmatic and grounded," designed to help sales teams achieve
business goals while evolving as professionals. "We ensure that
organisations achieve numeric growth and evolve in their values and customer-centricity,"
he explains. This firm has partnered with Indian multinationals, Southeast
Asian companies, and global giants to create tailored interventions that drive
measurable outcomes.
Groval Selectia expands this vision by fostering
cross-functional future readiness. Dinkar Rao shares that their engagements aim
to build leadership capabilities across all functions, enabling holistic
organisational growth. A unique aspect of Groval Selectia’s work is identifying
and nurturing catalysts within teams. "From a pool of individuals, we
identify those with exceptional drive and potential to lead change and growth
within their organisations," he notes. These initiatives have been pivotal
for companies looking to create resilient and adaptable teams in today’s
business.
Kabir Learning, named after the legendary poet and
philosopher Kabir Das, delves into building growth mindsets and emotional
resilience at leadership levels. "Leadership is a behavior, independent of
experience," says Rao. "It’s about taking ownership and creating
value for others, whether you are a junior employee or a board member."
Kabir Learning emphasizes authentic thinking, connectedness, and the ability to
challenge the status quo. Its programs aim to instill a sense of groundedness
and purpose among all, starting from people at grassroots level to the leaders,
fostering a culture of continuous growth and innovation.
Educational and Professional Qualifications
Dinkar Rao’s academic and professional credentials
further amplify his credibility. With an MTech from the Indian School of Mines
(now IIT Dhanbad) and an engineering degree from Nagpur University, he
complements his technical expertise with a suite of certifications, including
LIFO, Belbin, ICF, and Celemi. This diverse foundation allows him to approach
organisational challenges with precision and empathy.
Reflecting on his formative years, Rao emphasises the
importance of concept selling— understanding customer challenges and offering
tailored solutions. These early experiences in industrial consumable selling
gave him a solid grounding in business fundamentals, which have been invaluable
in his consulting career.
Success Journey
For Rao, success is measured by the ability to
co-create catalysts within organisations. "Our role is to identify
individuals with high potential and empower them to drive change and execute
growth ambitions," he asserts. These catalysts are not just leaders but
agents of transformation, combining emotional intelligence with strategic
thinking to navigate complex organisational landscapes.
The Groval Group’s projects range from small
businesses with ten employees to conglomerates with thousands of staff. This
diversity underscores the group’s adaptability and deep understanding of varied
business needs. The goal is encouraging others to take a result-oriented
approach rather than judging them, says Rao. This philosophy has become a
unique selling proposition for the Groval Group, fostering client trust and
collaboration.
Dinkar Rao believes in integrity, empathy, and a
commitment to nurturing talent. “We believe in people and trust that they can
grow," he states. The Groval Group’s interventions prioritise emotional
connection, especially during challenging times, while maintaining sharp
discernment to identify non-contributors. "It’s a blend of emotional
intelligence and strategic thinking," Rao explains. This approach ensures
that the group’s projects are both impactful and sustainable.
Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Drawing from his journey, Dinkar Rao offers valuable
insights for entrepreneurs: "Doing business is a marathon, not a 100-meter
race. It’s all about people." He emphasises the importance of hiring the
right individuals and investing in their growth. "Define your purpose, assemble
the right team, and create enabling processes to drive success," he
advises. This triad of people, purpose, and process forms the foundation of any
thriving business.
Mission and Goals
As the Groval Group continues to expand its impact,
Rao remains committed to his mission of enabling organisations to achieve
holistic growth. Whether it’s through sales enablement, cross-functional
readiness, or leadership development, the group’s interventions are rooted in a
deep understanding of human potential and business dynamics. "Our goal is
to build organisations that are not just successful but also values- driven and
resilient," Rao concludes.
Dinkar Rao’s journey is a testament to the power of
vision, integrity, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Through the Groval
Group, he has redefined success as a collaborative and transformative process,
inspiring businesses and individuals to reach their fullest potential.
