Dr. Shyam Iyer (Honoris Causa) - Founder & CEO of 60 Bits Consulting, an award-winning HR & OD Boutique Management Consulting firm. He is an HR professional, with over 27 years of experience in developing high-performing workforces and creating people excellence for large organizations. Dr. Shyam brings an interesting combination of people and practicality.
After a delightful and long professional career spanning 13 years, with 9 years as CHRO at Tata Power SED, Dr. Shyam decided to take a pause, listen to his heart and follow his passion. He stepped down from full-time employment and founded 60 Bits Consulting based out of Mumbai, India. His entrepreneurial perspective of the HR profession is founded on an unshakeable belief in people—and supported by his in-depth understanding of HR and Organizational Development. He has made significant contributions—at various stages of the maturity curve—for all kinds of companies, from start-ups to well-established multinationals.
He is an extremely warm, soft spoken and very creative person, he is a keen observer and a quick learner. He has a knack for dealing with people and adapts himself to suit various situations and people. Dr. Shyam is a CPF (Certified Professional Facilitator) from IAF and has facilitated many HR initiatives and interventions that have won several external recognitions and industry best practices in Talent Development, Retention, Employee Engagement, Performance Management, Cultural Transformation and Change Management.
He is also certified in MBTI, NLP, TA 101, ECR 360, and Mind Power. He has won several awards, such as the HR Leadership Award, the CEO with an HR Orientation award, etc. He is a Global IAF Mentor and mentor to XLRI ExPGM. He is frequently invited to address various Prof., Educational & Thought Leadership forums.

Could you tell us about your venture 60 Bits Consulting and the range of services it offers?
Dr. Shyam set up 60 Bits Consulting in 2017 along with another founder member Ms. Harsha Shyam and Co Founder Ms. Kala Diwanji.

3. What inspired your transition to entrepreneurship and how has your leadership style contributed to the success of 60 Bits Consulting?
Dr. Shyam’s strengths-based approach towards Competency based HRM, executing HR Strategies, Leadership Facilitator and OD interventions along with his strong belief in “If it is to be, it is up to me!’ has led him to lead large organisations to develop high performing teams and work culture in India with a strong record of leadership and making organization employers of choice.
He always dreamt of becoming an entrepreneur and following his passion of setting up a truly HR Solutioning Company with professional advisory and consulting services after his stint with Tata. The support, Purpose, Trust and Belief of his founding team and clients enabled the smooth transitioning towards entrepreneurship. Dr. Shyam’s leadership style is more facilitative leadership that has helped win the hearts and minds of clients by providing actionable results.
4. Could you share some standout projects or initiatives that 60 Bits Consulting has successfully delivered?
60 Bits Consulting is the first and only company in India that offers a 3 day government certified facilitation skills open workshop known as LEAF (Learning and Engaging Actively through Facilitation).

6. How do you stay current with industry trends, and what advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs?
Stay current by reading regularly, networking, experimenting, and teaching in B schools. The only advice for aspiring entrepreneurs is to follow your heart and passion, stay relevant by adding value, seek mentoring from experts and dream big!
