Hello, I’m Isha Ebrahim, the founder of Empower Branding, a dynamic studio specializing in branding, design, and communications located in Chennai. Although I originally hail from Chennai, I spent two decades in Singapore, which has greatly influenced my work and perspective.

 

My professional background spans design, marketing, and client relations, complemented by a Master’s degree in Luxury Brand Management—from Domus Academy, Milan, Italy. Over the years, I've cultivated a diverse skill set through experiences in the advertising and publication industries as well as in startup environments across Singapore, London, and Italy. This journey has ignited my passion for helping brands flourish through effective communication and compelling design.

 

I am particularly fascinated by the art of storytelling and the connections forged between brands and their audiences. I believe that the right messaging has the power to unite people, and this conviction lies at the heart of my vision for Empower Branding.

Empower Branding is a dynamic branding, communications, and design studio that I founded in 2023. Today, our talented team of four is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions across a diverse range of industries. We offer an array of services, including Brand Building, Content Creation, Social Media Management, Packaging Design, Publication Design, and Web/Digital Design. Our comprehensive approach aims to provide clients with a seamless 360-degree experience tailored to their unique needs.

 

Our branding services are crafted to help clients establish a compelling and cohesive brand identity that truly resonates with their target audience. We collaborate closely with you to define your brand's core values, personality, and positioning. From ideation and logo design to color palette selection, typography, and brand guidelines, we ensure that your brand stands out in a competitive landscape.

Starting Empower Branding took a significant leap of faith, but it has been a rewarding journey. The learning experience for both my team and me continues to evolve as we refine our existing skills and acquire new ones. The name "Empower" reflects my passion for not only furthering my own development but also for empowering my team to enhance their skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm in their pursuits. Moreover, our mission is to help clients build empowering brands that resonate with their audiences.

 

At the heart of our brand, we stand for creativity, passion, boldness, and authenticity. We believe that behind every brand, there are people connecting with other people. By merging my love for building relationships and sharing stories with my passion for design, I’ve created a studio where creativity flourishes and connections thrive.

 

 

Can you tell us more about your educational and professional journey that have shaped your core areas of expertise in branding, communications, and design?

 

My journey in education and professional development has been deeply rooted in the design industry. I earned my undergraduate degree in interior design in Singapore, but I quickly discovered a growing interest in roles that merged design with communication. This realization led me to my first internship at Wunderman, an advertising agency, where I honed my skills in client interaction and relationship-building. This experience was pivotal, as it allowed me to collaborate with a diverse group of diverse talents and understand the nuances of the industry.

 

As I progressed in my career, I took on various marketing roles, working with clients from a range of sectors. These experiences reinforced my passion for branding and communications, ultimately guiding me to pursue a Master's in Luxury Brand Management. This program provided invaluable educational and professional opportunities, allowing me to collaborate with an array of brands— from mass-market to luxury—and engage with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Learning from esteemed faculty and working on real-world projects greatly enhanced my understanding of how to translate academic insights into practical applications.

 

After completing my master's, I joined Tatler in Singapore, where I had the privilege of collaborating with exceptional mentors who further refined my branding acumen. In this brand management role, I was involved in various tasks, including branding strategy, content creation, and campaign development within the luxury market. These experiences equipped me with the confidence and skills needed to eventually launch my own studio, where I could establish a unique voice and contribute to the industry in a meaningful way.

 

 

What are your current roles and responsibilities?

 

In my current role, I oversee the daily operations of my team, ensuring that projects run smoothly and that communication remains strong throughout all ongoing initiatives. I prioritize maintaining solid relationships with our clients, fostering loyalty and trust, and demonstrating our commitment to supporting them in every possible way. Additionally, I actively engage with my team in various capacities—providing marketing insights, offering mentorship, and occasionally contributing to design tasks. I also focus on networking to identify new leads and opportunities for growth.

 

Ultimately, my primary responsibility is to cultivate a happy and motivated team, as well as satisfied clients. Alongside my team, I strive to continually enhance my skills and knowledge to become a more effective mentor and leader.

 

 

What key skills and leadership qualities have contributed to your success in branding and design?

 

In my experience, cultivating an open mind has been crucial to my success in branding and design. Embracing the thoughts and opinions of my team and clients has not only enriched our creative output but has also elevated the entire company. I believe that exceptional work is a collaborative effort, and by fostering a culture of inclusivity and positive feedback, we harness a greater pool of creativity than any individual could achieve alone.

 

Throughout my professional journey, interactions with diverse individuals have equipped me with essential skills in understanding, decision-making, problem-solving, adaptability, effective communication, and delegation. On a personal level, I have learned the importance of passion, drive, confidence, integrity, and inclusiveness. My vision of uniting people through branding, storytelling, and design reflects the invaluable lessons I’ve gathered from those around me.

 

Ultimately, I consider my greatest success to be the ability to integrate these learnings into empowering branding initiatives while collaborating with others to produce quality work.

 

 

What are some of your proudest achievements as a founder and branding expert?

 

As a founder and branding expert of a relatively new company, I take pride in every milestone we achieve and each project we successfully complete. The satisfaction of our clients is paramount; seeing their happiness with our work is a tremendous source of pride for me. These daily accomplishments, though they may seem small, are significant in our journey as they contribute to our growth and improvement.

 

My confidence grows with every opportunity to empower my team and witness their development. My proudest achievements include fostering client satisfaction, expanding our client base, and building our brand. I also prioritize creating an environment where my team can explore their skills and venture into new areas, helping to boost their confidence and capabilities. Every success we share is a testament to our collective effort and commitment to excellence.

My key piece of advice to aspiring entrepreneurs in branding, communications, and design is to take the plunge and pursue what you’re passionate about. Don’t let challenges discourage you; instead, view them as valuable learning experiences. Begin with your existing knowledge and continuously seek to expand it, making incremental improvements to elevate both your skills and the quality of your work.
