I'm Dr. Raghu T. Narayan, a Micro Endodontist with over two decades of experience in clinical dentistry. I earned my MDS in Endodontics from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, and have pursued advanced training in micro-endodontics and aesthetic dentistry from institutions like the University at Buffalo, University of Florida, and UCLA. Currently, I serve as the Clinical Director at Narayana Specialists Dental and Implant Center in Bengaluru and am the Founder & Director of the Academy of Advanced Endodontics (AAE) in Bangalore.
Could you tell us about the Academy of Advanced Endodontics and the training programs it offers?
The Academy of Advanced Endodontics (AAE) is dedicated to enhancing the skills of dental practitioners through comprehensive training programs. We offer a range of courses, including short-term programs like the 5-day Comprehensive Endodontics Training and the 3-day Simplified Rotary Endodontic Program, as well as longer courses like the 12-week Integrated Clinical Endodontics Program. Our curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice, ensuring that participants are well-equipped to handle complex endodontic procedures.
What inspired you to venture into entrepreneurship, and how did you identify opportunities in dental education and corporate dentistry?
My journey into entrepreneurship was driven by a desire to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and clinical practice in dentistry. I recognized that many practitioners needed more practical, hands-on experience to excel in their field. This realization led to the establishment of AAE, where we focus on providing real-world training to dental professionals. Additionally, understanding the evolving landscape of corporate dentistry, I saw opportunities to integrate advanced endodontic practices into broader dental services, enhancing patient care and professional development.
Could you share us your professional journey, highlighting significant milestones and achievements?
After completing my BDS and MDS from M.R. Ambedkar Dental College and Hospital, I pursued advanced training in endodontics and aesthetic dentistry from esteemed institutions like the University of Florida, University at Buffalo, and UCLA. Over the years, I've performed over 18,000 root canal treatments and have trained more than 3,000 dentists globally through AAE. Serving as the Academic Director for modern Endodontics at the Dental Academy for Clinical Excellence (DACE) in the USA is among the milestones I'm proud of.
What are your core areas of expertise, and how have these skills contributed to your professional success?
My core expertise lies in micro-endodontics, aesthetic dentistry, and dental education. These skills have allowed me to perform complex dental procedures with precision and to impart practical knowledge to aspiring dentists. By staying abreast of the latest advancements in dental technology and techniques, I've been able to enhance patient outcomes and contribute to the professional growth of many dental practitioners.
How has your leadership style contributed to the success and growth of your multiple ventures?
I believe in a collaborative and mentorship-driven leadership approach. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is enhancing diagnostic precision, analysing radiographic images to detect periapical lesions and aid in treatment planning. AI-integrated design software creates detailed 3D models, improving visualization of root canal systems and procedural outcomes.
The Dental Operating Microscope (DOM) provides enhanced illumination and magnification, enabling more precise and minimally invasive procedures. This improves treatment accuracy while reducing patient discomfort and recovery time.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) offers three-dimensional imaging with detailed views of dental structures, enhancing diagnostic capabilities and identifying complex root canal anatomies and periapical pathologies that traditional imaging might miss.
